Mining

We have been active in the mining sector since 2005 through our drilling company Drillcorp Sahara.

Over the past fifteen years, we have drilled more than one million meters for major mining groups operating across the sub-region, including BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Kinross, SNIM, MAADEN, and Redback Mining. Our operations have extended to Saudi Arabia, Guinea (Mount Nimba), Senegal, Mali, and Mauritania.

Following the redefinition of IWA Group’s strategic vision, mining has emerged as a new strategic development axis for the Group. In this context, we have acquired 65% of Gold Mining Services (GMS) in Mauritania — a company specialized in gold production through the processing of artisanal mining residues — with an expected annual production of 540 kg of gold.

In Mali, our subsidiary DSP GOLD SARL holds a gold mining exploitation permit, with preliminary extraction works currently underway. The objective is to achieve large-scale mining operations in the medium term.

DSP GOLD SARL is actively engaged in gold exploration, extraction, refining, purchasing, and sales, with the overarching goal of contributing to the development of the mining sector in line with IWA Group’s 2025–2030 strategic objectives.

DSP GOLD SARL is pursuing two main strategic axes:

  1. Develop, in partnership with the SRK Consulting firm, an integrated large-scale gold mine project based on the identified resources within the Méridiala permit.
  2. Implement several small-scale mining projects, with five gold-bearing zones already identified — notably Telendjo and the Zanfala area, which includes four sites: SAT1, SAT2, SAT3, and Main Zone.

Among these sites, SAT2 is currently in the pilot exploitation phase, serving as a reference model for a high-value-added small-scale industrial mine.
